Kindle DX and Kindle with Global Wireless - Differences & Similarities

The really obvious difference between these electronic reading gadgets available to buy at this time is that one only works in the USA while the "Global Kindle" works in over 100 countries around the globe. If you make your bed in a country besides the USA (or if you are a US citizen who frequently visits other countries) then that makes your decision (such as it is) clear; You have to get the Kindle with Global Wireless Reading Device.

Besides that, the clearest difference between the two is that of size. The Kindle DX Electronic Reading Gadget is bigger as far it's display and it's memory capabilities. It is also far larger as far as it's price.

While the DX is 9.7 inches, the Kindle with Global Wireless is just 6 inches. The bigger display is most helpful with newspaper subscriptions (it makes it more like reading a real paper.) On the flip side, the smaller size of the smaller version can make it more easy to take with you.

There is also a large difference as far as memory size. The bigger Kindle can hold over 3000 books, magazines, & newspapers while the smaller version of this wireless reading device can hold up to 1,500 books. But really, who has that many books?! Honestly, I have a very difficult time imagining that this extra space that the DX has is necessary for most potential buyers.

Another difference is the auto-rotating screen that the DX has.The DX also has a built in PDF reader that the smaller version does not have.

They both can download from a selection of about 350,000 books, newspapers, and magazines which can usually be purchased for much lower prices than their paperback alternatives. These books can all be downloaded within just 60 seconds from anywhere (they have G3 wireless so there's no need to search for wi-fi spots.)

They both have a built in "text to speech" program which automatically turns all of your books into audio books. Yes, your Kindle will read to you!

Neither of these gadgets have any monthly charges to worry about. The way the wireless service works is much like the wireless for a GPS. Once you get the gadget the wireless just works, there's nothing else to worry about and no bills to pay.

They both have a basic web browswer that lets you check out websites from anywhere. It should be noted that this web browswer is meant for text based informational websites such as blogs and Wikepedia. It's not for pictures or videos.
